Bozeman's Downtown to Get a New Boutique Hotel: The Canopy by Hilton
Posted on February 11, 2025New Boutique Hotel Proposed for Downtown Bozeman: The Canopy by Hilton
Big news for downtown Bozeman! Plans for a six-story Canopy by Hilton hotel are currently under public review. This development is proposed for the corner of South Rouse Avenue and Mendenhall Street, the current site of the Salvation Army building (formerly the Chronicle offices).
The Salvation Army is planning to relocate to a new facility off North 19th Avenue, paving the way for this addition to Bozeman's hospitality scene. The Canopy by Hilton is described as a "boutique, lifestyle" hotel, and the design is specifically tailored to Bozeman with unique architecture that complements the downtown vibe, not a cookie-cutter franchise.
Here’s what’s proposed:
-
190 Rooms: Plenty of space for visitors to experience Bozeman.
-
Ground Floor Amenities: A coffee shop and meeting spaces, perfect for locals and travelers alike.
-
Rooftop Oasis: A rooftop pool, restaurant, and bar
-
Underground Parking: 148 parking spots accessible from Babcock Street, addressing the downtown parking challenge.
The hotel, situated on a 0.89-acre lot, will encompass 36,000 gross square feet. It will join other downtown hotels like the AC, Element, Armory, Lark, and Residence Inn, further solidifying Bozeman as a premier destination.
The public comment period is open until February 20th. Following that, the director of community development will have 10 days to make a decision on the plans.
If all goes according to plan, construction could begin as early as spring 2026 (pending city approval and the Salvation Army's move) and is projected to be completed by May 2028. This new hotel promises to be a fantastic addition to downtown Bozeman, offering a unique and upscale experience for visitors and locals alike.
