Bridger Bowl Reveals New Plans
Posted on February 26, 2025Bridger Bowl Unveils 2025 Master Development Plan
Bridger Bowl released its comprehensive Master Development Plan (MDP), outlining a vision for the future that includes new lifts, expanded terrain, enhanced infrastructure, and improved snow capabilities. This plan, now submitted to the Forest Service for review, signals a significant investment in the resort's future.
A Focus on Progression and Accessibility
Bridger Bowl's MDP highlights a clear focus on improving the overall skier experience, particularly for beginners and intermediates. Key upgrades include:
New Lifts:
-
A new 500-foot beginner lift, shorter than its predecessor, designed to ease the learning process and provide an alternative to the Sundog carpet.
-
The planned Bradley Meadows Lift, opening up popular Alpine area backcountry terrain to intermediate and advanced skiers.
-
Pierre’s Knob 2 lift, offering additional lift-served access to advanced and expert terrain on the south side of the mountain, relieving congestion at Schlasman’s lift.
-
A new rope tow, that will allow skiers to lap the park area.
-
Enhanced Ski Patrol Access: A dedicated ski patrol lift and an additional shack at the top, designed to improve avalanche mitigation and overall safety. This unique addition raises questions about its exclusive use, as dedicated ski patrol lifts are rare.
Beyond the Slopes: Infrastructure and Guest Experience
Bridger Bowl's vision extends beyond just the slopes, with plans to enhance the overall guest experience:
-
Improved Ski School Operations: A new Ski School Hub at the base of the learning terrain, relocating operations away from the ski patrol building to reduce congestion.
-
Jim Bridger Lodge Expansion: The lodge will be expanded and moved closer to parking areas, creating a more functional base area.
-
Expanded Snowmaking Capabilities: A new snowmaking pond and infrastructure upgrades to ensure consistent snow quality, regardless of weather conditions.
-
Night Skiing: Planned night skiing on portions of the lower mountain to increase accessibility and capacity, attracting midweek visitors and potentially easing end-of-day congestion.
-
Increased Parking: Additional parking planned at the east end of the existing area to address the resort's limited parking capacity.
Bridger Bowl's Legacy and Future
Bridger Bowl, a non-profit ski resort with a rich history dating back to the 1940s, is renowned for its challenging terrain and backcountry access, particularly the infamous "Ridge." This MDP demonstrates the resort's commitment to evolving while preserving its unique character.
While these are only plans, the scale of the proposed changes is exciting. The community will be watching closely as Bridger Bowl navigates the review process and works towards bringing its vision to life. One thing is for certain, the future of Bridger Bowl looks bright.
