Missouri Headwaters State Park Expands
Posted on November 18, 2024Missouri Headwaters State Park Expands
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) has recently added 26 acres to the Missouri Headwaters State Park. This expansion, approved by the Montana State Land Board in March 2024, aims to protect key historical sites, enhance wildlife habitat, improve trail connectivity, and expand fishing access.
The Montana State Parks Foundation (MSPF) acquired the parcel using funds from the Montana Fish and Wildlife Conservation Trust. MSPF then donated the land to FWP in April 2024. The newly acquired land will be open to the public, with the exception of a western portion that will remain closed until further environmental assessment and removal of existing structures is finished.
This is a significant achievement for the park, as it secures important cultural and natural resources. The Missouri Headwaters State Park is a vital historical landmark and a popular destination for outdoor recreation.
